I really dont see why Ubuntu needs a Music store. i really doubt they will ever be able to match the selection Amazon and Rapsody already have, so why try. Makes no sense to me, But hopefully it make the ubuntu guys some cash (Doubtful though)

It would have probably made a bit more sense to team up with Amazon on this one and maybe threaten Apple a bit. But the need for the music store is there. It is just not simple enough to buy mp3s from withing Ubuntu. The Amazon solution isn’t that easy to use (my opinion) and there is no iTunes. Including it in Rhythmbox also makes a bet on people’s impulsive shopping.
Also, if Canonical could try and promote some free culture with artists like the ones on Jamendo.
